There is something about first time author Ashish Mohan’s “The Final Awakening” which catches the fancy of the readers. It could be the plot, the coherent narratives, or even the characters which each of us could identify with ourselves.  The story is compelling, witty, and interesting!

Each character of this story has its own shortcoming; while Arjun fights his depression, Richa struggles to overcome the guilt of dumping Arjun for a goon and Nisha fights with her innerself to come to terms with the fact that Arjun is the true love of her life.  The plot of the story is so gripping that you can’t help but join Arjun with his journey on the twist and turns of his life. The author has very astutely related all the characters to one another over the happenings of their lives.  My favorite character is Arjun, the quirky habits of this character amused me greatly.

Occasionally, you will come across a novelist who strikes a cord with its readers with ease. With “final awakening”, enjoyment is guaranteed!

Ashish Mohan’s very first novel “The Final Awakening” seems like a promising one. Compactly written with a sleek and suspense narrative, the story easily holds the fancy of its readers till the end. The well-described characters are so lively that they reflect someone you know in real life.

The author’s proficient writing even made Arjun’s monologue with the rats held in cage at his home an interesting one! An excerpt from that very scene provided below proves this fact.  The author’s impeccable style has some scenes and characters alive. For instance, Arjun’s monologue before the rats held in case can make you stick to your seat. Here is the excerpt from the page:

“As he pondered over the actions of the jovial rat, trying to impress the other rat and trying to feed it, he could sense that his thoughts probably were not wrong. It could really be possible that one of them is a female rat and the jovial rat is trying to woo the female rat and is trying all antics possible to impress the female rat.”

The approach of this novel is refreshingly new and appeals to today’s youth. Overall, a good book and definitely worth a read!

Set in a modern day dark society, “The Final Awakening” is an amazing portrayal of all the characters namely Arjun, Nisha and Richa. Three of them symbolize the youth of today; they are modern, educated, and successful in their respective careers and they live life on their own terms. Even the other two characters namely Sanjay and Anuj represent the mindset of today’s distracted youth who choose wrong means to fulfill their desires. The story revolves around these characters and what happens when their paths are crossed with one another.

Penned by debutant writer Ashish Mohan, Final Awakening represents the fast and disturbed life of modern India where physical, materialized satisfaction has engulfed souls and mindset and man can go to any extent to satiate his materialistic needs! The author’s simple and lucid narration captivates any reader to go till the last page. The action-packed conclusion is very engulfing.

“At an early age of thirty years, she had made a name for herself. She was considered one of the best professionals in her field. And Delhi offered her lots of scope for making a living. She wondered how a fast and stressful life had converted thousands of people into ailing minds-so much so that most of the people who came to her were big professionals in their fields and were facing the results of the stress they had gradually allowed to seep inside their lives…” this brief excerpt from new and stimulating novel “The Final Awakening” very well indicate how much successful and capable today’s modern woman is who lives her life in her own terms.

Penned by the debutant Ashish Mohan, Final Awakening is the story of listening to the ultimate call of your heart, to stand up for your own self-esteem! With the author’s simple and yet strong narration, the characters emerge as someone you could relate to in your life! Be it Nisha, the Psychiatrist who is strong-headed, no nonsense girl who is well aware of how to tackle life or Richa, the MNC exec, who in spite of her life’s many setbacks for which she is herself responsible to certain extent, doesn’t bow down before circumstances and fights back. Even, the character of Arjun, who is submissive and depressed over his life’s happenings shows ultimate courage and fights for his dignity.

The setting of this novel is refreshingly modern which promises to appeal today’s youth. A must read for avid as well first time readers.

Debutant writer Ashish Mohan’s “The Final Awakening” gets off to a curious but interesting start. Arjun, a successful medical researcher is in poignant mood and broods over checking with psychiatrist for his treatment of his depression.  The story unfolds his interesting meeting with Dr. Nisha and how in course of time it changes all his previous perceptions.  He not only comes out of his depression and able to accept the hard fact of his ex-girlfriend Richa dumping him for a goon, but also manages to find his soul mate in Nisha and finally fights for his own dignity.

In some way or other all the characters are related and when their paths are, an intense struggle for survival begins. After all, survival of the fittest is the rule of this jungle where we live. The author has shown his hallmark exuberance with the plot of the story and cast of characters so resilient, sassy, and full of life that they breathe, and shout right off the page.

Ashish Mohan is carving a formidable niche in fiction even with his debut novel. The modern setting of this novel appeals with youth of today. However, basic these characterizations are, they amount to a kind of novelty right from the beginning. The readers can find this plain-spoken fiction full of traditional virtues: pure lucidity, visceral momentum and strong plotting. A perfect book to enjoy your boredom and you bet will refer this to your friends!

“Without a word spoken to her, he turned and left the scene. She realized that she was trembling- not because of fear of goons or guilt at her past actions but now she knew for sure, she had lost the only man who had truly loved her, forever….” Welcome to Ashish Mohan’s refreshingly short, action packed story “The Final Awakening.”

Adorned with an urbanized setup, Final Awakening is a story of love, lust, deceit, anguish, revenge and redemption. The lives of all the characters namely Arjun, Nisha, Sanjay, Anuj, Richa are intertwined with one another in someway or other. With no fantasy attached, each character with its naturally described shortcoming will remind you of someone you know in real life. Arjun, the central character of the story is an underdog. While Nisha and Richa are the perfect replica of today’s modern girls- smart, educated, know what they want from life and more importantly how to get it! Even Sanjay and Anuj, the goons in the story are perfect examples of distracted youth of today who are growing as a threat for our society.

The story symbolizes the modern youth of today who have high expectations from life and anything related to it. The narration is simple yet captivating. The author seems like a seasoned writer even though this is his first novel. This novel makes a perfect reading material especially for a lazy weekend!

The Final Awakening

The bad blood in his veins had flown out and the tears which had welled up in him all this time, had come out. He was a new man now, fresh blood as if his system had been flushed off all the negativity….”The last lines of the novel very well indicate the rationale of the novel “The Final Awakening” The author does a very neat job of leading all characters to a denouement, life takes a full circle for all five of them.

Ashish Mohan’s short, action packed novel “The Final Awakening” is based on life, love, lust, loss, and redemption. The narrative style of the novel is racy, and down to earth. The author has a heightened sense of imagery and does a wonderful job with simple English. All through the novel the reader cannot help but visualize Arjun, Nisha, Sanjay, Anuj , Richa and their lives unfolding before their eyes- they are real people, no fantasies or imaginations.

The short and compact nature of the story should go down well with today’s generation, which does not have the time or inclination for long narrations. The story has all it needs to capture the minds of young intellectuals – love, lust, action, emotion and surprise.

A very realistic and interesting description of characters so different in nature, yet part of a single story line- This novel should make an interesting read, worth spending sometime!
